Such a pleasant surprise of a book! For once this isn't primarily a romance book, but a book about the relationship of two middle-aged sisters with each other and a darling 80 year old woman renting out a cottage to them in freezing January. All the character were very believable, with all their flaws (Don't worry, there's also some men walking through the plot). I liked how the elderly woman finally figured out that her married lover had been a cad, and the younger sister realised that you don't need a man in your life to adopt a child. There was a swimming pool and cats, and everyone figured out their priorities. The action goes beyond the one week in winter of the title, but that was just fine.

All in all, a really good, refreshing read.
