Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
5.0
All was well.
Cliche quote to use but whatever. I had planned on finishing this earlier but how fitting that I should finish it on the eve of the day I will be watching the final movie which also made this re-read even more emotional.
I don't think I'll ever read Deathly Hallows and be able to hold back the tears, I've tried many times but it doesn't work. I still cry when my favourites die, I still cry when Ron and Hermione share their first kiss and I still cry when it's over.
But the one thing I am looking forward to the most (seriously more than anything) is the Ron/Hermione kiss.
There was a clatter as the Basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione's arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.
'Is this the moment?' Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. 'OI! There's a war going on here!'
Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other.
'I know, mate,' said Ron, who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, 'so it's now or never, isn't it?'
So while nearly all my friends are currently at the cinema awaiting the midnight showing of Deathly Hallows Part Two I'm sat at home wishing I was with them but feeling every bit as excited because I think I'm ready for it.
We're not really saying goodbye, afterall, the books are always there and the movies will never leave us. Harry Potter doesn't end with a movie. It never ends.
As J.K. said Hogwarts is always there to welcome us home. And I truly believe that.
