Dreadful is a loose reimagination of Sweeney Todd and Medusa, set as a mafia romance in modern day Boston. I loved both the revenge bucket list plotline and gothic slow burn love story, and of course the gay Italian nonnis absolutely stole my heart! I am so glad the author made the decision to only have one half of the main couple in the dark about the other’s true identity; I think that made the hesitation towards the relationship more realistic, and overall more probable.
