Dark Night Golden Dawn by Allison Carr Waechter

4.0

I loved how unique this was. I also really liked the way this world didnt just have one type of supernatural being, it incorporated lots of mythical species and their communities in a great way.

The FMC we follow is quite relateable I think, the way she suffers heartbreak at the hands of a narcissist and how she tries to find herself again while trying to regain her trust/connection with family & friends she was cut off from. Now the plot obviously wasnt relateable sadly, but it was engaging and fresh.

I enjoyed the premise of the plot quite abit. We are thrown into a world where the many communities are edging for power in ways we dont understand at first, and I like how the information is delivered to us as we learn and get our questions answered alongside the FMC.

What I would like in book 2 or 3 is some multi POV, I say this because sometimes as much as we can easily convey the thoughts and feelings of other core characters, I do like to read from their perspective just to get a better feel for the story and the whole picture playing out.

Anyway I reallyyyy did like this, I would’ve given it 5 stars but I felt like it was more 4.5 due to the pacing being a little slow at the start. I can appreciate though that the start is world building and character introductions etc.
