What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez
4.0
This book had me hooked from the beginning. This was marketed as a 1999 The Mummy esque book. It certainly has some elements, mainly that it's set in Egypt.
There was a bit of a slowness in the middle that made
Me stop the book for a few days and not feel the need to start again for a while. It's well written, and I liked the characters, it just got a bit slow. Once I picked it back up, though, I flew through it.
I am not the most perceptive reader so I didn't see any of the twists and turns coming, so I was entertained by that. I wish we saw Whit and Inez get a little more "friendly" but a slow burn is good too.
I'm looking forward to the second book and already have it on preordered.
