Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

“they were knowledge, given life. wisdom, given voice. they sang when starlight streamed through the library’s windows.”

i loved this so so much. such a beautiful love letter to sweeping libraries and those that get lost in books like it’s second nature. going into this, i didn’t expect to like it— i’ve barely read any fantasy the past year, and it’s always been a bit more difficult to get enraptured by the worlds. but it defied expectations. i’m about to schedule a reread just so i can go through and annotate it, fill it to the brim with nonsensical musings and such.

nathaniel. absolutely the death of me. silas. *incoherent screaming* *fire blazing* elisabeth. an absolute joy to follow. and the world was so lush and transportive that i immersed myself so easily into it each time i picked up the book.

p.s. so happy there’s a novella accompaniment — i’m not ready to let go of these characters yet
