That Unexpected Kiss by Tamara Ferguson
5.0

Dylan Nash is a FBI agent undercover as a game warden in Crystal Rock. He originally came to town looking for his father's murderer, but quickly fell in love with the town and its residents. He dated Kate Callahan for a bit, but soon realized there was no spark. To make matters more complicated, he had the hots for her best friend Julie. Julie secretly felt the same way, and left to work in Colorado, specifically to avoid the weirdness of being attracted to her best friend's man. A couple years later, Julie moves back to Crystal Rock, and is informed that Dylan has been single for a long time, and he and Kate didn't last long. They both have rough pasts, with Julie's mom disappearing when she was 6, and Dylan's dad being murdered when he was 10. Will their dark pasts be what brings them together?
That Unexpected Kiss is the second book in the Kissed by Fate series by Tamara Ferguson. I have read a lot of her books, and have loved them all. They are always great stories, good characters, and the right balance of life and romance. At first I was not loving this book, because it felt like a recap of book 1. They overlapped, and this book needed enough backstory, to be able to be read as a stand alone. Which I get, but having just finished book 1, at time I felt like I was rereading the same story. But it didn't last, and soon the story took off on its own roller coaster ride, that I didn't want to end. Highly recommend this book, and all of Tamara Ferguson's. There is a reason she is a #1 International Bestselling Author!
