And They Were Roommates by Page Powars

I really enjoy the overall premise of this story, however I didn’t like this as much as I was hoping to if I’m being honest.

There was definitely moments where I really had a hard time suspending my disbelief at the sheer absurdity of some of the plot lines, like the faux-pas tutoring service that’s a front for a love letter writing service, for instance. I feel like that could have either been fleshed out a bit more or the mechanics of it explained a bit better. Some of the characterization I felt, made this story fall flat for me at times also.

Still, I digress.

Overall, I thought the book had a lot of heart and I thought the romance between Jasper and Charlie ultimately was really sweet even though I honestly didn’t care that much for how cartoonishly over dramatic Jasper was at first lmao. As a fellow queer trans man, I really did resonate personally with how Charlie was navigating his insecurities and all. Plus, I always appreciate some wholesome trans rep!

It was a nice, lighthearted little read and honestly I really appreciate that. I do wish I enjoyed it a bit more than I did but such is life. I think it’s worth checking out still if you want a fluffy, lighthearted queer book to read tbh
