The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

5.0

Clue meets Groundhog Day meets Quantum Leap, all wrapped up into one book. This is definitely one of the better thrillers I've read lately and I definitely need to read it again to keep track of everything (or find the painting Gregory Gold made near the end). To be honest, I was very confused during this book, specifically the first half - a lot of the characters had 'D' names and were quite difficult to keep track of - and, more obviously, the time jumping between characters, deciphering what conversations have been had, and when things were set to happen were the hardest to keep straight. I also finished it with a few looming questions: 1) Why was Daniel there? His crime(s) must have been as heinous as Anna's but what did he do?; 2) What happened to Blackheath after all of this? Was the crime universally solved and the estate was sold with the hauntings of the crimes?; And 3) What happens to the hosts after all of this once they aren't inhabited? Are they aware of everything that's happened, of the murders and crimes they've abetted? I need answers.

Tl;dr sick book. Quite confusing, as a lot of thrillers and mysteries are, but what a unique story!
