I liked this better than I did the first time I read it. It's classic YA fantasy.
My biggest gripe has nothing to do with the book and everything to do with the audio. For some reason the narrator made Alex's voice more masculine than either Damian or Rylan, and that bothered me. Sometimes I assumed it was Alexa speaking because the voice was more feminine, but then it was one other the two male characters and it threw me off.
Anyway, I'm eager to read the other two books since I never did back when I read Defy the first time around.
