Murderbot comes more into their own here, and it's a lot of fun seeing them in a new situation. The GreyCris plot begins to thicken, which ties this instalment quite satisfyingly into the first. I enjoyed the new characters a lot, particularly the bot Miki. They allowed for further worldbuilding around bots/AIs in this world, and their relationship with the rest of their team was lovely - humans and robots can be friends! Murderbot is still their sarcastic, socially anxious self, but they are changing and evolving.
