Livro de Máguas (Portuguese Edition) by Florbela Espanca

I didn't originally like Florbela Espanca's poems. I'm not the biggest fan of sonnets, their rythm bothers me and the need of constant rhyming sometimes tickled my nerves. I heard of Florbela a few years ago, I was told she was a very morbid dark writer for her time, so I decided I'd give her another try.
This book really hit me. Although her vocabulary is very repetitive, as well as the themes of the poems, I find she expresses her feelings delightfully. She portrays the endless "feeling of miss", saudade, a lot of nostalgia (which reminded me a bit of Fernando Pessoa) and constant feelings of loneliness and suffering - all of which she manages to capture in the utmost beauty of her simple but perfectly rhymed verses.
She has taught me to enjoy sonnets, and to appreciate the simpler phrases.
