Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier

5.0

I could’ve read 300 more pages of this. The prose’s hypnotic cadence lulled me into a dreamlike state, enticing me with its lush depictions of Manderley while subtly hinting at an underlying unease. Du Maurier does atmospheric, great characters, tension, and pacing SO well.  However, it was the setting itself that resonated most with me-a blend of enchantment and foreboding.
