A poignant story that was both intimate and personal to these characters while telling a larger story about our nation’s history. I love the way the storylines flowed together. I am sometimes bothered by stories that are told out of order, like it’s a gimmick meant to keep something from the reader for a big reveal later on. But this felt so natural in the way that you would think of memories.
