Inkspell by Cornelia Funke
5.0
Actually more like 4.5 stars, but I’m rounding up because this is one of my favourite stories of all time.
That said, this book definitely drags in some points. It’s hard to write a book with so many different characters and then keep every single storyline as interesting as one another. I was glad that this book seemed to focus more on Dustfinger and Farid because their relationship is so cute (much cuter than Farid’s and Meggie’s…) and I feel like we get a lot of emotion out of those two characters.
Another strong point of this story is the Inkworld setting. It is truly a beautiful fairytale like world, that draws you in not only with its beauty but also with its harsh laws and cruel rulers.
I was originally going to give this book 4 stars, but I was completely shook by the ending so I bumped it up to 4.5. I need to read the next book immediately!
