The Lives of Others by Neel Mukherjee

Did not finish book. Stopped at 52%.
I was genuinely so happy when I first started this book. It was the first time I read about desi culture and people written by a desi author. That first feeling of representation gave me immense joy!

After a while, I lost interest in Supratik's storyline. It wasn't for me. And after more pages, I started losing interest in the storyline of the Ghosh family. While I am still a tiny bit curious as to what will happen to the characters - reading 300 pages to find out is not appealing. I sit with the feeling that the story is dragging more than it needs to. I've simply lost interest.
I wanted to finish it - I really did. If only for the representation. I'm afraid I would start to despise the book in the end. Instead I choose to put it down now, and still have a bit of positive associations with it.
