Russian Winter
by Daphne Kalotay
I'm actually giving this 2.5 stars. I really wanted to enjoy and love this book, but it just wasn't going to happen.
It's a bit of choppy review. I'll try to clean it up later.
I felt there needed to be more information on the political atmosphere at the time. Maybe a bit more in depth. It's been a while since a history class and there was so much going on at that time.
Frankly, I had to wonder how much Nina really loved Viktor. Her lack of faith in his loyalty was very disappointing. I felt that Vera had hit it on the mark when she said she was selfish. She seemed to be so naive about the goings on of her government. She doomed her husband to death when she complained/cried to Serge about Vera, the baby and Viktor.
All in all, I would probably not recommend this book.
