This book took me so long to read, and not because of the way it was written, but because the first 100 pages really didn’t grip me at all! I like to feel like I have to keep reading because I need to know what happens next, I do now want to start the next book soon though after the cliffhanger.
While I liked the plot of this book, having not read the previous one immediately before this, I was really confused on how we got to where we started. I liked pirate Lila and her relationship with Alucard, because they both have their secrets and play really well off each other. The Essen Tach also feels like it came out of nowhere, I like to have more connection between books, because while this does take place four months later, I feel like a mention of it in the last book, of how excited someone was for it or Rhy planning something, would have made it feel more connected.
