Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

5.0

I loved this book. It started slow for me, but I was hooked as soon as I got glimpses of the intriguing mysteries of the house and the family. I didn't read many horror books, mainly because I cannot stand the gore, but in this case, there is little of it and it's toward the end. The psychological mindf*ck however was top-notch. I can't say what I loved more: the complicated weaving between reality and visions, the revelation at the end, or the delicate balance of trust between the characters. I don't want to say more because I'm afraid I'll spoil it, but I'll recommend this book to my friends for sure.
