Astérix et les Goths by René Goscinny, Albert Uderzo

2.0

By now I'm finding these quite easy to read in French and this didn't give me much trouble outside of a little convolution near the end. Notably mean-spirited towards the Goths/Germans and quite a startling reminder of just how close in time the 60s still were to the war - the happy ending here sees the Goths plunged into a seemingly endless civil conflict that will ensure they will never be able to threaten their neighbours again, while there's a few thinly disguised references to recent German history along the way. Quite a fun adventure though if a few steps below the previous installment comparatively.
