The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
4.0

The Scorpio Races sat on my TBR for nearly seven years—quite a long time to let a book linger. There were moments I thought about removing it entirely, but I never did. A month ago, I decided to challenge myself to tackle my ever-growing TBR pile in the most obvious way: by actually reading the books!

At first, I assumed The Scorpio Races was about a traditional horse race. Connolly sounded like the name of a wealthy character, and honestly, I’d outgrown my "horse phase," so I didn’t expect much going in.

For the first half of the book (up to about the 52% mark), I wasn’t particularly enjoying myself. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t gripping me either. However, the second half completely turned things around. The story began to resonate with me on a much deeper level, and by the end, I found it utterly beautiful.

I’m glad I stuck with it—sometimes, the most rewarding books are the ones you least expect
