Dead and Berried by Karen MacInerney

3.0

I rated this a little higher because I liked the storyline and it really is a nice cozy mystery series. Yes, there are moments when you kind of say Really? But I see that in all cozies.

What I had a hard time with were the errors. I'm surprised the author didn't pick up on some items that were painfully obvious. I blame the editors because they weren't paying attention. Errors this obvious weren't apparent in the first novel. I kept focusing on the author's use of the word shiver. She shivered here. She shivered there. She shivered with the wind. She shivered and then shivered again. And again. And it was all because of the chill. Look, I know it's cold and I know you're scared but there are more words to choose from. The repeating of conversations with Gwen about her boyfriend was weird. The author forgot what clothing items she put John in and that may not have been a big deal if she hadn't described him wearing an outfit similar to her ex-fiancé only three pages before. The fact Natalie had already collected a phone number a few chapters before but had to do it again. These didn't interfere with the story really but they were painfully obvious.

I'll read the next one because I did like the story. Let's see if anyone was paying attention when #3 went to print.
