Steven Universe Vol. 1 by Jeremy Sorese

2.0

This is a collection of short comics (some as short as a page) that all involve the SU characters, but don't share any plot elements. I really didn't like the main art (it varies sometimes from story to story) which I think is Jeremy Sorese*. The shorts done in black and white were good, but the bulk of the stories were in that art that I'm just not into. It also lacks the rich characters and storylines that I like about the show, which is understandable considering they have, at most, 8 pages to tell a story and it has to appeal to people who haven't watched the show. However, I didn't like the disjointed energy and silly plots (if there was one at all). It might be good for younger fans, I guess.

(*The characters are over exaggerated and they change so much from panel to panel that I have to expend extra visual energy to parse out what is character and what is background. Add in strangely placed speech bubbles and wiggly backgrounds and it gave me a headache)
