The Nest
by Kenneth Oppel
This story reminded me of Skellig, by David Almond. The MC is a young boy with some mental health issues (anxiety, OCD, etc). His parents have a new baby with serious health problems and all the worries that come with that situation.
The feeling I got as I read was of being stuck in a waking nightmare. The author kept the suspense going until the last possible minute and I wasn't sure how it would all turn out. This was a really creepy story and one that I will recommend to my reluctant readers.
