They both married for love, but they seem to be missing each other amid the tangle of money and social expectations. Nell is very sweet but needs to find her way in society as a newly-married woman; which includes handling her money and her expenses. It's a nice illustration about how little things and choices that seem inconsequential can loom large in one's perception of one's own marriage. Of course it works out in the end because true love is there all along. A pleasant read.
