Dalva by Jim Harrison

A beautiful and beautifully written story of a woman and her extended family, set in Nebraska in the 1990s but with flashbacks, through her great-grandfather's journals, of the last half of the the 19th Century and the holocaust imposed upon the Sioux and other native peoples. Powerful, humorous, poignant, insightful - my first Jim Harrison novel, but certainly not my last. Highly recommended.
