David Foster Wallace can have a brilliant way with words but sometimes he will beat you over the head with it. Have a dictionary close by if you're going to attempt this read. I truly love his non-fiction, especially when he is being his sarcastic, observant self, but my first foray into his fiction was a bit of a (sometimes enjoyable) slog. Some very interesting ideas and characters in this novel but you really need to wade through a lot of pharmaceutical technobabble.

Not recommended if you are sensitive to violence towards animals.
