Told in alternating timeframes by alternating characters, this story is gripping. Two women, one in the city of Berlin, the other on a farm in Texas, the men and their jobs and their families in the 1930s and the 40s and the 50s. It is about decisions and assumptions and choices and how they affect us and the relationships we form.
