What if Death went on vacation and suddenly there started being deaths she’s not responsible for? A tale about two sisters—Life and Death—and a murder mystery? Absolutely yes!
I requested this book because the premise was very intriguing; I mean, deaths Death is not aware of? That sounds incredible. And I absolutely love books about sisters, they do warm my heart.
I had some problems with the continuity of the story, as well as the way the plot was developed. I did feel like there was something missing. However, some storylines were hilarious, I loved all the references to religion, mythology, etc. The characters were okay, of course my absolute favourites were Life and Death, especially their sisterly bond and their character development. The dogs as well were such a sweet addition!
I did not care much (at all) for the romance; this book could’ve definitely done without it. I would’ve instead loved to see more of Death’s discovery of herself and her bond to Life. We do get a glimpse of that, but I would’ve liked to see more of it.
As for the ending, while bittersweet for some, I found it delightful. I don’t think there’s any other way this book could’ve ended. It was perfect.
I absolutely recommend this book; it was such a page turner and I genuinely enjoyed it. Thank you again NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press. Overall, great book!!
