Marjan Kamali is an author everyone should add to their TBR list. I want to go back and read her first novel now. This is a powerful and beautifully written story about two women who grow up in Tehran, Iran during the 1950-1970s. Marjan weaves a story about friendship, family, betrayal and finding your voice in a world that doesn't always respect and value women, or offer them their freedom over their choices or their bodies. This story broke my heart over and over for Ellie & Homa on their quest to become "Lion Women" but also lit in me a fire to raise my voice for things that I believe in ❤️
