Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman

2.0

I'm beginning to sound like a comic snob but I'm tired of all these EARTH SHATTERING BIG CHANGE events. And this time it was really Earth shattering as Marvel shed all of its extra weight and did away with all of the multiple universes they haphazardly created over the years. So now we're left with just Earth 616 and Earth 1610 where they try to eliminate the other before the other eliminates them. Ultimately they fail and frakkin' Doctor Doom uses his stolen Beyonder powers to appropriate Reed Richards' life and remake the worlds into Battleworld where he is "God." Textbook megalomaniac. Can Doom join the few that have died and never came back? He is just a tired character who's brand of overly theatrical supervillainness went out with bell-bottom pants. The whole Secret Wars event was pretty much blah I have to say and the only time Marvel did a world changing event right was House of M and Age of X to name a couple.

Everyone do yourselves a favor and just read the synopsis on Wikipedia. That's ALL you need.
