Her Feral Beasts
by E.P. Bali
An academy book for adults .... stay with me here, its good.
Aurelia is just a serpent shifter princess living her best life until it is discovered she's not what her father ordered in an heir, and her life takes a turn for the worse.
And then one day, she has to run from a crime she didn't commit, and ends up in a prison academy.
No, really. Its a Juvenile Detention Centre for young Shifter adults who need to learn some manners, or who have been deemed not safe to be out in public with the humans. And we're not talking please and thank you. These students (lets be honest, inmates is more accurate) have committed actual crimes, so a three year college experience is deemed the appropriate rehabilitation, all thrown in with other troubled shifters from all different groups, and just for fun we have a lot of fated mates in the mix, some even get to find their soul mate while doing time!
So that already sounds pretty awesome, and then along comes our poor lost princess Aurelia and The Slaughter Brothers, a trio of violent bloodthirsty junior crime kingpins who should be in actual prison for their crimes, and BOOM - just like that we're in the thick of a bully / enemies to enemies / why choose / college romance unlike any other!
I loved the characters and the relationships - there is SO much tension built through the book and Aurelia really knows how to stir the pot for maximum conflict, and the dynamics of the cast are really well crafted.
This is book one of a series and it builds beautifully to the conclusion, which of course just leaves us wanting MORE and searching for release dates for book 2!!
Will you question your emotional investment in this book? Absolutely.
Should you read it? YES. Read it now. Go on, go read it, its way better than my review!
