About the Book: Lawson’s business card states “I Travel By Night” and that line alone usually gets him the right kind of work. This time work has him searching for a mythical town in Louisiana swamp called Nocturne, one everyone swears doesn’t exist. Just physically couldn’t, it’s a literal swamp. And if it once did, surely by now it’s taken by a hurricane. Up until one man braves to say more, and points to a direction that indeed is seemingly all swamp. But tells a tale of a wicked town there, one that really shouldn’t exist…

My Opinion: One of those tales where vampire regrets his turning so much, he opts to hunt other vampires. In hopes it might redeem his soul a little. In disgust that he’s like them, a monster. With an unstable and doubtful promise of a possible cure to this condition. Set in Louisiana during or just after Civil War, where vampires have used the opportunity of bloodshed. Classic tale, really, well written, very simple. But very much not my vibe, hence I don’t yet know if I’ll read more.
