What I expected was a raunchy romp of a football romance book. You know, guy sees girl, guy gets girl, and they live happily ever after. What we got was so much better.

Often in football(or really any sports) romance books once the couple finds a way to be together she adjusts her life to be a full time football WAG. Willa has her own thing going on. And it’s not an important career that needed her time and attention, she has an internal sense of forever being unsettled-something I can relate to. She’s the definition of wanderlust. Hayes, the golden retriever MMC, understands and truly sees her. He understands what she needs to be happy, and that’s not to be caged. He on the other hand is content living in his bubble. He grew up in Denver, he went to college in Denver-go dragons!-and now plays professionally for the Denver Mustangs. He had been so singularly focussed on his future he forgot to have fun along the way and that included dating.

The way these characters navigated his inability to leave and her unwillingness to stay with kindness and understanding filled me with warm and fuzzies. The P*ssy Next Door is my favorite book in the Cocky Kingman’s series.
