The Bay by Allie Reynolds

4.0

Book title is The Swell for my friends in the US

Many thanks to the wonderful team at @hachette for my arc.

A brilliant Aussie thriller and page turner! Allie Reynolds has done it again. I thought Shiver was going to be hard to beat, however The Bay has cemented Reynolds as a force to be reckoned with in Aussie noir thriller fiction!

‘There's a darkness inside all of us and The Bay has a way of bringing it out. Everyone here has their secrets, but we don't go looking for them. Because sometimes it's better not to know.’

It’s a cast of wonderfully colourful characters, who at some point I had my suspicions of and questioning their motives. Told primarily through Kenna’s POV we are swept along in the mystery and drama that unfolds. With short, snappy chapters, I flew through this one in no time, needing to desperately find out the reveal. The best part of this novel was the atmospheric writing and setting. I felt I was right there on the beach with them all, I could visualise the water, hear the waves and smell the ocean!

I highly recommend The Bay, and if you haven’t read Shiver, it's also another one that I recommend.
