Beneath the Burn by Pam Godwin

2.0

I like Pam's writing and generally I really like her main characters, and I do have a kink for her dark themes, but this book just wasn't doing it for me. I found the instant connection too much honestly and the writing wasn't selling it. I couldn't feel why they felt about each other the way they did. I also wasn't a fan of the secondary characters which never helps. When Jay's drunken, crude, band mate is the the most compelling character among the rest of the cast something is wrong. I also felt Charlee was written to be tough but her actions often times didn't back that up. I honestly would have been more interested in reading more about Lam's friendship and loyalty to Jay then anything else I read in the book.
