Maddie Baum is raising her nephew, Josh, after her evil ex-brother-in-law, Cash murdered her twin sister. After receiving a postcard from Cash, notifying her of his upcoming release, she fled her Pennsylvania Amish community and forwarded her mail, telling no one where she was going.
She arrived in Humble, Wisconsin, feeling nervous and alone, afraid that others could see her true story written all over her face. She finds a place to stay with a kind older woman, Ms. Wanetta Graff.
Stopping at the store to pick up a few things, Maddie is introduced to the stores owners after Josh is caught stealing some chocolate. The older man, Amos is very harsh and traditional, but the younger man, Abram, is kind and tries to be helpful. Maddie takes notice of him right away, and he feels a certain spark, too!
Their friendship continues to grow. Abram is amazing and helpful in so many ways. He goes above and beyond in so many ways, for Maddie and others!          She’s truly in awe by the good man he is, but sees no real future with him because she can’t forgive herself for the lies and half truths she’s told. She feels so guilty all the time!
Abram is quite smitten with Maddie and always looks for opportunities to be alone with her or to spend time with her and Josh. He enjoys spending time with Josh. He sees himself when he was a youngie in Josh. Josh turns into a whole different child with a way to channel his energy and some guidance from a male figure in his life.
Finally the day arrives and Cash shows up looking for Maddie and Josh. There’s an altercation at Wanetta’s house. In the end, Maddie is left hurt and Josh is kidnapped by Cash! The police are called and the truth must come out.
The whole community spreads the word and everyone turns out to help Maddie and Josh in whatever way they can. Maddie is so humbled and awed by all this community has done for her and Josh, in spite of them being newcomers.
Will they be able to find Cash and Josh in before they disappear? Is there a future for Maggie and Abram?

READ THIS WONDERFUL BOOK!! I can’t tell you EVERYTHING!!
