I do not understand why Murakami is so well-respected. All allusions to 'deep' thought seem to be him pulling stuff out of his ass to put into his stories. While he does have several very interesting thoughts to share, this is largely offset by general weirdness, and worst of all: rampant misogyny. I have been wanting to read one of his books for a long time, but have now been cured of that notion.
