This is my second time reading this. And it was just as infuriating as the first. I did enjoy it slightly more than I did my first time. The characters are a mess, the story while pretty slow is still gripping - this is all in a good way by the way. Basically if you want messy and ever increasing family drama this is your book.

The only real negative point I have is the writing style. This book could’ve been about 50-100 pages shorter. There was a lot of waffle, a lot of perspectives that we really didn’t need and more importantly the amount of “inner thought” repetition was very annoying particularly in the first 2 sections of this book.

I don’t think it counts as a spoiler but spoiler just in case… Cynthia Callahan/ Tailor is NOT a good person. She’s hated by everyone and boy does Cole like to let you know that! It got to a point where every chapter (bare in mind these are very short chapters) went off on a 1-2 paragraph inner monologue about the fact that Cynthia is a bad person… and not even given us any new material as to why. It felt like I was being hand held into my thoughts on her as a character - when it really wasn’t needed. The rest of the writing really spoke for itself, it’s just a shame we had to be drip fed on how to feel about our antagonist.
