East of West, Vol. 3: There Is No Us by Jonathan Hickman

4.0

I've enjoyed East of West so far, even if it gets a little confusing at times. I realized, though, that there's a key issue with East that I didn't figure out, and it's that Saga does the sci-fi comic adventure so well that it really overshadows a lot of stories like it. East is less a story about the people and more about the broader society, if it were, and it's difficult to separate the two as a result.

For what it is, East of West is great, and this is arguably the best volume so far. It's just a different one that I wonder if I'd enjoy more if Saga didn't exist. The politics are great, the art outstanding - it just lends itself to too much comparison.
