The book is a whole package. It is kind of giving vibes to Hades and Persephone's story. Ododo is kidnapped and whisked away by a mighty king and she is now to become a queen but she is not given any powers. The world-building is amazing. This is the first time I read about African Kingdoms and how mighty they were. I searched and there were mighty African kingdoms in the past.
The culture is very rich. The part of women in society is also very important in this world. Everything about this book from cover to story drew me in. There is some trauma Ododo's mother faced in her past and she kind of projected it in Ododo and that was brave and kind of sad about how Ododo's thinking process worked regarding men. I felt bad for her mother though what she went through was tragic and it was really brave of her how she fought with the world. She was harsh on Ododo but she thought she was protecting her daughter from worst of mankind.
This is going to be a great story.
