mckenziegray 's review for:
An Unkindness of Ghosts
by Rivers Solomon
The world and the characters that Rivers Solomon creates in this book are captivating and intricate. The pacing or possibly the writing style made it a little hard for me to follow at times. The story takes place on a spaceship traveling from Earth to The Promised Land with strict social stratification based on race - similar to the Antebellum American South. Because of this, the story is extremely violent and dark reflecting the violence and generational trauma experienced by people who were enslaved. There are a lot of layers to this book that I continue to think about.
