This was the perfect book to read on audiobook while decorating the house for the holidays and wrapping Christmas presents. Jeanne and Tim own an inn in Vermont that is proving challenging to keep afloat as a resort has opened down the road. It’s Christmas and long-time guests are holding their daughter’s wedding at the inn. They are counting on the wedding receipts to keep them in the black, and then the groom backs out. A famous author is also a guest, looking for inspiration for her latest book. As a giant storm rages outside, more guests arrive to take shelter, including a couple missing their grown children and a father with two daughters who have lost their wife and mother. The snowed in location and the magic of Christmas join together to make each character’s story sweet but not saccharin, and the way they come together at the end is heartwarming. This is a Hallmark movie in a book- my favorite kind of story for this time of year. I absolutely loved this book.
