The Girls at 17 Swann Street
by Yara Zgheib
Anna, a French woman living in St. Louis, is sent by her husband to a recovery center for an eating disorder. Told in the present, the past, and through hospital reports, this novel has made me better understand eating disorders more than any nonfiction account. The women at 17 Swann Street are vivid characters, and I was rooting for all of them. This book could be a troubling read for someone who has an eating disorder. But I found it a tragic yet hopeful read that was really beautifully done.
