Laws of Physics: Motion by Penny Reid

3.5/5⭐

[I received a digital arc for an honest review]

I am a longtime fan of Penny Reid's writing. The Law of Motion was what I expected from a novel by her. I'm not going to go into the plot more than the synopsis does because I don't want to spoil anything.

"I was the worst kind of hypocrite, acting like I had all this moral authority . Meanwhile , I was a lying liar of lies , sitting on a throne of lies, eating lie soup and liar cake."

As many of Penny Reid's leading characters tend to be, Mona, is highly intelligent. She is oblivious and uncomfortable with her own beauty, and awkward when it comes to the opposite sex. She makes adorably nerdy science jokes and loves to read. Mona did however take a while to grow on me. I think that's because if I was in her shoes I would have done things differently. I couldn't wrap my head around why she felt the need to blindly support her sister.

this all it takes to earn my trust? Cookies and smiles?! Can I be bought for so little?

Abram was your typical musician who is misunderstood and is really sweet, fun and caring when you get to know him. I did love him and Mona's interactions in the sexual tension between them.

"Abram had won the genetics lottery. Or Powerball. Or whatever. The point was , this guy probably received congratulations cards for his face. Noted."

Overall, Law of Motion was good but I didn't love it. The whole scenario / plot line annoyed me a bit. It also ends on a cliffhanger that I found to be completely expected and not a surprise.

"liking him had the potential to be incredibly messy. And yet, I did. I liked him."

"You have to tell me what you want ,” he whispered gruffly. “If you don’t want me, tell me. But you have to know, you must know , I only want to make you happy.”
