This is a fantasy book for tree huggers. The first half of the book tries desperately to get you to care about environmental issues and planting seeds that never come into fruition, while the second half contains most of the action and is chaotic as it tries to tie in the storylines and confusingly incorporate tiny bits of romance. The underground world-building was interesting, but this book just didn’t land for me. I won’t be reading the sequel.
