Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen

4.0

Sarah Addison Allen is a great writer. She writes books that have vivid descriptions, magic that seems real, and believable characters. Claire, the main character in Garden Spells is likable, but also flawed. Her ability to create magical recipes is interesting, but her personality that can't accept love is what really drew me into liking her so much. Sydney, her younger sister, is also a flawed character, but again, very likable. I actually ended up liking Sydney more than Claire once I finished the book. Allen makes sure the reader sees each character grow and develop throughout her novel, ensuring that the reader stays interested. I can't wait to read the follow up to this, First Frost!
