Plot was very tense and interesting world-building and very emotional (as the main character Kierse has a lot of past trauma both from events referenced in the first book but also from secrets in her past that she knows nothing about). This book delves deeper into that trauma at the same time as developing the emotional and sexual relationship between her and Graves and the planning and executing of a heist to find a magical item. The sex scenes in this were very graphic (especially when compared to the 1st book) even including a gun in 1 scene which for me was a bit much (which is why I took a star off as that is not my preferred level of spice and this was definitely a huge step up from the 1st book). There was still conflict with her and Lorcan which took an interesting turn at the end. The ending left on a huge cliffhanger so I am very much intrigued to read the next book to see where the story goes.
Graphic: Sexual content, Violence, Murder, Gaslighting
Moderate: Confinement, Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Kidnapping, Grief, Death of parent, Gaslighting, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Child abuse
