The Witch Boy
by Lee Knox Ostertag
Lovely, magical, self-contained story about gender expectations and nonconformity and the power of human connection. Great cautionary tale about how low-key bigotry can breed something even more evil. Beautiful visual style with simple and satisfying art. Lovable characters. Effortlessly efficient world building. Didn't quite go where I was thinking it would and maybe wasn't as queer as I had imagined, but in a way that reminds me to keep an open mind that not everything has to be so ambitious.
