This book was so hard and so sweet and so inspiring and so good. I really enjoyed it, and I loved the author’s note that explained how she came up with the idea, the research involved, and how the story points were formed. Charlotte’s path and how she kept her history secret, as well as her friendship with Nell and her dedication to Evie was beautiful. Evie’s sense of betrayal that didn’t let up till she got the whole story was a point of strength I enjoyed; she was so strong, and stood up for herself. Nell was delightfully naive, and her growth was maybe my favorite. Plus Alex: swoon. James pissed me off, but I also understood his reasoning. I was on the edge of my seat, and enthralled the whole way through.
